The Main is Norfolk鈥檚 newest upscale hotel, dining, and meeting destination. The project includes a 368,890 square foot, 22-story, full-service Hilton hotel and an 113,958 square foot parking garage with 300 spaces. The hotel offers ten luxury suites and a presidential suite among its 300 guest rooms. Amenities include three restaurants plus a juice bar, an indoor pool, fitness center, business center, and meeting spaces. The Main is a gathering place, designed to attract locals and visitors alike.

The developer teamed with the City of Norfolk to redevelop an old vacant bus terminal into the city鈥檚 newest destination hotel, with help from Virginia鈥檚 tourism development financing program. The city funded the parking garage and the construction of The Exchange, the hotel鈥檚 42,000-square-foot conference center, an IACC-certified space that meets SCIF standards to accommodate the security needs of government agencies and defense contractors. Flexible meeting spaces include Virginia鈥檚 largest Grand Ballroom, a 90-seat tiered meeting room with tech support at each station, and a “think tank” room that encourages creative thinking and problem solving. The building is registered with USGBC for sustainable design and construction.

This project聽has been awarded a 2017 by Engineering News Record Mid-Atlantic region. These awards recognize聽the ability of the project team to overcome challenges, contribution to the industry and community, safety and construction, and design quality. The design was聽recognized with聽an Award of Excellence in the category of Best Recreation / Entertainment / Hospitality Project at the annual Hampton Roads Excellence in Development Design Awards.
